Artist Biography
Born in Mexico City, the artist divides his time between Washington, D.C., and his hometown. As a multidisciplinary creator, his work encompasses painting, sculpture, and installation. He studied at the National Academy of Arts, San Carlos, in Mexico City. Deeply influenced by his family's experiences in Mexico and his own experiences within both countries, his art explores power dynamics and our relationship with nature.
Known for his abstract paintings, which evoke an atmosphere of solemn austerity, this same mood extends to his sculptures and installations, where he uses ceramics and natural materials to create mystical environments. His work has been exhibited at institutions such as the Anahuacalli Museum in Mexico City; the Cultural Institutes of Mexico in Ottawa, San Francisco, and Miami; and the VIII Rufino Tamayo Biennial at the Rufino Tamayo Museum of Contemporary Art in Mexico City. It is also part of numerous public and private collections, including those of the World Bank in Washington, D.C., and the Mexican Embassy in Berlin.
